You can be sure its fresh...if its frozen!

Deep freezing is the healthy way of preserving food which not only makes the additions of preservatives unnecessary but locks in the   freshness and nutrition at that moment of freezing.

Frozen fruit and vegetables capture their nutrition within an hour of harvesting which maintains the vitamin level unlike fresh which often lose much of their nutrients during the time taken to reach the shops. In a study conducted by the Deutsches Tiefkuhlinstitut it has been found that freshly picked peas have 22.1 mg/100g of vitamin C which is reduced to 14.1 within two days in fresh peas compared to 20.2 in frozen peas. This is consistent across a study of various vegetables and fruit.

Also what many people do not realise is the fact that many so called fresh foods can take up to 14 days to reach the consumer. For example fish caught at sea can be up to 10 days old when they the boats return to harbour. Add to this, another four days to process through the supply chain and your fresh fish is two weeks old!

Chilled fish is often frozen fish which has been defrosted and then distributed through the chilled food chain.
